Let’s take a look at the story of Peter Pan and his adventures in Neverland.  Peter Pan was the invention of a Scottish author and playwright, J.M. Barrie (1860–1937). Interestingly, the character of Peter Pan first appeared in a few chapters of the 1902 novel, The Little White Bird which was written for adults.  Barrie’s publishers extracted these chapters, after the very successful debut of the play about Peter Pan in 1904, and republished them in 1906.  The novel was called Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens.  In 1911 the novel Peter and Wendy was published.

It’s said that J.M. Barrie created Peter Pan as stories told to the young sons of his friend, Sylvia Llewelyn Davies.  Peter Pan’s name comes from the name of one of the sons, Peter, and from the mischievous Greek god, Pan.

The story of Peter Pan includes his friendship with Wendy Darling and her brothers, the fairy Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys and the evil pirate Captain Hook.  So if you and your friends want to dress up as characters from Peter Pan there are some great costumes available.  Click on any link and you’ll find even more costumes for toddlers and kids.
